Illamasqua Baptiste

I've been having a rough few days, don't have much in me left for blogging (I wouldn't expect too much from me anytime soon), but I had this post saved and it's one that I'm excited to post, so I figured I might as well post it...anyways...

Ahhh! I'm SO excited about this polish! It's my first Illamasqua. I adore it! I've been wearing it as a pedi for about a week and a half now (and still going strong!), but I put it on my nails now too, for my family Thanksgiving dinner a few days ago.
Baptiste is just GORGEOUS! This is two amazing coats with one coat of Seche Vite. Just look at it! It's so dark and vampy, yet vibrant and shimmery...you really need to look at these pics close-up. The red and blue shimmer in this is what makes the polish.
Like I said, application was great...for the polish, that is. I have to say, I'm not a huge fan of the square cap. First of all, it doesn't really line up right when you close the bottle, and it's just really awkward to hold while you're polishing. I kinda thought before I bought this that Illamasqua was like Chanel or Butter London, with the removable outter cap and then the smaller actual handle. Nevertheless, application was great. No streakiness or dragging whatsoever.
Seriously, I have such a love affair with dark colors right now...what's going on? Especially dark purples. Love em, love em, love em.

Sincerely, Cat

I have so much going on in my life right now... I need a blessing and cant afford to not pay it forward... so here ya go... If you have taken a minute to read this... God has seen YOU struggling with something. God says its over. A blessing is coming your way.... If you believe in God send this message on, please don't ignore it, you are being tested. God is going to fix two things (BIG) tonight in your favor. If you believe in God… drop everything and re-post it. Can't hurt...I still believe in miracles and angels. [sorrrrryyy saw this on facebook and just had to repost it... :P]

Mini OPI haul

This isn't a Black Friday haul (that'll come eventually...even though it's not that impressive or anything, haha), just some random OPIs I bought last week...just so ya know, my pictures make the colors look way brighter than they actually are. I shouldn't have used flash.

We'll Always Have Paris

Cajun Shrimp

Honk If You Love OPI

I Brake For Manicures

...and then a full size bottle of Avojuice lotion in Caramel Cream. I swear, I could just eat that stuff. It smells delicious, and it works wonders.
As you can tell, I'm kinda on a vampy purple kick...and then there's the random bottle of bright coral, haha. But seriously, all I want to wear lately is dark colors. It's really weird.
Just thought I'd show these beauties off quick...that's all I've got for now!

China Glaze Yellow Polka Dot Bikini

I feel like a rebel...wearing neon yellow right on the brink of winter. This is one my staples in my collection...the truest neon that I own, for sure. Of course, like all neons, very hard to photograph!
This is one coat of China Glaze Yellow Polka Dot Bikini over 2 coats of OPI Alpine Snow, plus one coat of Seche Vite. Great application on this...the trick, for me, is having a good, opaque base of white. I considered using 2 coats of YPDB, but I really didn't need it.
I've worn this many times before, but I never get sick of it. And this color gets so many comments! My friends, my family, my biology teacher the other day (haha), my eye doctor this afternoon (ugh...I hate that place!). You can't go unnoticed in this color.
I absolutely love this...neon yellow is my life. End of story.

Sincerely, Cat

Deborah Lippmann Glitter In the Air with Sephora by OPI Slushied

Happy Black Friday! Again, I don't have anything festive or themed or anything, but...meh.
I've been waiting to use Glitter in the Air until I found a perfect color to wear under it...I'm pretty satisfied with what I came up with.
This is 2 coats of Sephora by OPI Slushied, with 2 coats of Deborah Lippmann Glitter in the Air, and one coat of Seche Vite. I've used Slushied before, and I love it. It's the perfect shade of bright blue, and the application is great. Last time I wore it, I think I wore Black Shatter over it, and it looked really cool. Anyways.
I wanted a color that kind of mimicked the bottle color of GITA. Slushied is quite a bit darker, but it still worked. Since GITA is in a milky base, it lightened Slushied a little bit. The problem I had with GITA, besides getting enough glitter on each nail, was making it even on each nail. It looked a little streaky at first, but after 2 coats of it it looked better.
Not sure if you can tell, but I have MASSIVE sheet marks on my middle finger, lol! Seriously, you could feel the huge ridges in it...you could totally make out a whole fingerprint on my nail, haha. I think I managed to mostly hide it in the pics.
I do like how this looked. I felt like I was wearing cotton candy on my hands...dream come true, lol!

Deborah Lippmann I Know What Boys Like

Happy Thanksgiving! I don't have anything particularly festive or holiday themed today...just the regular from me! Anyways...
I dug this out of my untrieds pile the other day...Deborah Lippmann I Know What Boys Like, from the Summer 2011 collection (I only now realize how odd it feels to wear summer polishes at this time of year, lol). This one came out with Girls Just Want to Have Fun. When I bought them, I thought I'd like GJWtHF (ugh, that's hard to type! haha) better...now, though, I'm definitely more a fan of this one. I think the reason I thought I wouldn't like this is because I wore it as a pedi earlier this summer and it just didn't work.
I used 2 coats of this, with one of Seche Vite, and this absolutely applied itself...I know I shouldn't expect any less from Deborah, but seriously, this was even better than usual. It has that jelly-creme consistency that Deborah's known for.
This color can't decide if it's blue or purple...or maybe that's just me. It's like a royal blurple, haha. I didn't like the color much in the bottle, but I freakin adore it on the nail. I love the name too!
Looks like Deborah's still on her winning streak with me...

Sephora by OPI Naughty Is the New Nice

The first official holiday polish I've worn this season! :) This is Sephora by OPI Naughty Is the New Nice, from the new Holiday collection.
Man oh man, do I love this! This is SUCH a pretty, light silvery-blue foil. Looking at it up close is so cool...you can see all the light silver flakes mingling with the blue flakes.
I used 2 coats on this, and one of Seche Vite, and application was just great. No problems anywhere.
Really, I don't have much to say about this one because it's just awesome! I ordered this mostly because I loved the name, haha, but the color is way more gorgeous than I thought it'd be just judging by Sephora's website.
Okay, my gushing is over...for now!

Sephora by OPI Sin-cerely Violet

with flash

without flash
This is Sephora by OPI Sin-cerely Violet, from the SOPI fall collection. When I first passed this over from the fall collection, I instantly regretted it, because I have nothing like it. So, now that I've finally bought it, I'll admit...although it's nice, it's nothing to flip out over.
I used 2 coats here, and one of Seche Vite. A little bit streaky, not too bad though. The problem is that this color is too light...especially for my super pale skin! It gave me total lobster hands, and it was just not a good color on me. I love the idea, and how it looks in the bottle...light lavender with a really pretty gold shine...but on me it looked way too pale, almost kind of white-ish, and it fell flat.
So, I'm still glad I got this, and I like it, but it's not like it's some kind of hidden treasure, for me, anyways. I'm sure I'll wear this again sometime...I was thinking it might be good for a pedi, but actually I think it'd be too light even for that..hmm.

Sincerely, Cat

Orly Butterflies

Sorry about the rather odd pics today, lol...this was a really hard-to-capture color! This is Orly Butterflies.
It's a bubblegum pink jelly...not much more to describe the color, lol! The first picture's most color-accurate. Sorry about the bright orange background, haha, that's the walls of my room...lol.
I used 2 coats here, and one of Seche Vite, and there's still nail visible...I considered using 3 coats but I didn't want to wait for that to dry, haha. Application wasn't too bad. Streaky at first, but it's a jelly, so I expected it. This is only like the 2nd Orly I've ever used, and the brushes are kinda skinny for my taste, but I can manage. Love the rubber cap, though.
All in all...not a huge fan of the color (pink...meh!) but it's still cute and all. So, if you like pink, you'll probably like it. If not, then you're like me...haha. Anyways...

Sephora friends/family sale haul

My order from Sephora's family and friends sale came in the mail the other day...yay!
Not too much, but I was pretty pumped to get it!! Closer pics...
Nails Inc "The Donmar Collection." Comes with Donmar overcoat and Chelsea polish...the next pics show them better.

Donmar overcoat...one word...FLAKIES!! Sadly enough, I don't have Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure or Nubar 2010 or any of those other flakies, so I'm super excited to finally have this! I've layered it over a few colors already and I love it!

Plum Black Chelsea polish. I don't know if this is just called Chelsea, because that's what the bottle says, or if it's called Plum Black Chelsea, because that's what the box and the website say...? Well, whatever. Either way, it's a dark burgundy. Looks pretty but nothing new.

Urban Decay Original Primer Potion...I haven't bought one of these new squeeze tube bottles before! My genie tube just ran out, though...not sure how I feel about this new style yet. Yeah, it's more convenient and WAY easier to get all the remaining primer out of the bottom, and it doesn't dry out as quickly, but the genie bottles were so darn cute!!

Sephora Professional nail files x2. Love these...they have the perfect texture. I hate files that don't have enough grit, or too much. These are the only files I use anymore. They're super cheap too...$2 each, I think? And with the sale, $1.60 each, haha...can't beat a bargain!
Sephora by OPI Naughty Is the New Nice. Picked this out because of the name, haha, but the color is gorge...it's a light silvery blue foil. Adore this!
Sephora by OPI Stop Stocking Me! Hahahaha...yep, you guessed it, I bought this for the name. But, of course, I like the color too. I think the website describes it as golden plum or something like that. It's a really pretty, shimmery purple with beautiful gold veining running through the bottle. Seriously, though...I saw this name, added this to my cart, and wouldn't let myself take it out of the cart.
Good Tidings We Bling. This is an online exclusive, so obviously that justified buying this! Haha. This is a clear base filled with different sizes of red and green glitter...some small, some larger hex glitter. This is uber pretty...I just kinda wish it wasn't in a clear base. I love glitter so much more in a colored base!

Illamasqua Baptiste...I had to take a pic of the box too, of course, since this is my first Illamasqua! This is a super pretty dark purple shimmer...I'm wearing it as a pedi right now and I love it! The only thing I'm not too fond of is that the cap sometimes doesn't line up perfectly with the bottle, but it's not that big of a deal.

So, that's my haul for now!!

Sincerely, Cat

OPI The One That Got Away

This is OPI The One that Got Away, from last winter/spring's Katy Perry collection...the one that brought two amazing glitters and the (now annoying) shatter/crackle fad, haha. But anyways.
I used 2 coats on this, and one of Seche Vite...my application on this (my fault, of course) was not very good, at all, but it's still a pretty color. My pictures kinda drown out all the great shimmer, but it's there for sure.
Yes, it's sparkly, but still....it's pink....I just don't know. This isn't my color. I do like it, though. It's kinda in the same family as Diva of Geneva but, well, way different...you'd think I'd like this one better, seeing as it's packed with shimmer, but for some reason nothing beats that polish...have I ever posted it? I really need to. It's totally top 5 in my collection. Top 3, even?
Also, I just have to add that I downloaded the song that this is named after recently and I love it...even though I find it really depressing, and I've found it really relatable lately....but either way, totally addicted. Anyways...

Sincerely, Cat

Sephora haul!

Today's post comes with lots of rejoicing :) This is my haul from Sephora this weekend...and the reason I went to Sephora this weekend was because I was down at state competition cheerleading, where my team took FIRST and became STATE CHAMPS!! It was a pretty dang good weekend, haha. Anyways, haul pics?

Pretty small haul, but I still love it! Here's closer pics....

Sephora by OPI Chest-Nuts About You. Yeah...I mostly bought it for the name, haha. It's a good color though too...bronze-y, rose gold-ish foil-y type shimmer. Nice description, right?! :P

Sephora by OPI Sugar Plum Fairies Gone Wild. Hahaha, what's up with these names?! Super cool purple glitter though...smaller pieces and some larger hex glitter too. I love purple!!!
Sephora by OPI Sin-cerely Violet. I didn't pick this up when the fall collec first came out and I instantly regretted it! Seems very unique to me...super light lavender with gold shine. Awesome.

Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner in Covet. I've wanted this one forever, and now I finally have it! Mwahaha.

Philosophy The More the Merrier set. It has lip gloss in Marshmallows for Toasting, and 3-in-1 shower gels in Marshmallows for Toasting, Candy Cane, Have a Cherry Christmas, and Twinkle Berry. I love minis!!

And finally, Philosophy Twinkle Berry lotion. Mmmm I love this! It's not just berry...it's really vanilla-y. I'm really bad at describing scents, but this smells soo freakin good!!

Anyway...not much to post right now, but I'm really happy with my teeny haul and, well, my whole weekend in general!

Sincerely, Cat
