Random nails

Some random nails, just for fun. Two posts in one night...weird, right?

China Glaze Lemon Fizz...my Easter nails this year!! Wonderful formula but I must say...I hate ChG brushes!! I basically only use OPI so I guess I'm pretty spoiled...I love their ProWide brushes! After using mainly those for, like, ever and then using a ChG, it was really weird to use the teeny, skinny brush. So, I'm sorry the application on it looks so crappy!! Other than that, like I said, the polish itself was wonderful. I've never seen a yellow so opaque in two coats before. And it's not even all streaky and uneven. Beautiful.

OPI Guy Meets Gal-veston. From their spring Texas collection. It's one of the "sorbet" colors, AKA jellies. It's so beautiful and the application is wonderful. I'll leave it at that.

China Glaze Virtual Violet. Shown is two coats with one coat of base coat underneath, no top coat. From the Tronica collection. This pic (and collection, actually) is old old news...pic was taken 3/16/11...that's two months ago tomorrow!
Like everyone's been saying...not as holo as expected. That goes for pretty much the whole collection. It's not bad by any means, but everyone was expecting OMG/Kaleidoscope collection 2.0. It's not. I still really like it...but I had high hopes. I missed out on both of those previous collections, so when I saw promos for this I thought, "WOW, I finally have another chance!" Tronica isn't even close. But either way, I'm still a fan of this color.

So anyways, I'm glad I got these pics on here finally! Yea!

Sincerely (AGAIN!) for today, Cat

Franken--Real or Not Real?

Another franken. Geez, I'm having SO much fun wearing these lately...
This is Real or Not Real? The name comes from Suzanne Collins' book Mockingjay...you'll see why I related it with this color in the pictures. I wasn't really a fan of the book...it was the last in the Hunger Games trilogy and I just didn't think it was as good as the others. But it wasn't bad by any means, so needless to say it inspired me with naming this shade.
Real or Not Real?...well, it was kind of an ongoing quote throughout the book with some of the main characters. If you've read the book, you might remember it...it was kind of a cute yet heartbreaking thing between the main characters. But anyways...shall I get on with the pics??

Enlarge for a better view!! And now you can see...it was obviously named because it's (almost) the same color as the cover! This time I even remembered to take a pic of the bottle and add it...I'm quite forgetful you see...
And now my review of the color. I'm not in love with it. It's not that I don't like it, but to me it's just not quite as awesome as some of my other frankens (Something Unignorable, I'm talking to you!) If I didn't connect it with this book and it was just another polish, I'd think it was pretty meh. One of the larger reasons I like this polish is because I think of Mockingjay every time I see it.
And it's not that the formulation was terrible, either. It was kinda thin and sheer, but it wasn't awful. That's two coats shown (I basically always use 2 coats unless it REALLY needs 3 or more). I mixed it in my mini Essie Main Squeeze bottle...from last year's Bridal collection. I don't normally say this but I reeeally disliked Main Squeeze...weird uber-sheer silvery gray with blue/purple flash...it was really just too sheer. I know, I know, it's a bridal collection, but...still! Anyways.
I think the reason I'm not too fond...I normally like my blues a little darker, but also...I don't really like the shimmer!! It looks more pearly in this, which normally I would like, but it doesn't provide enough contrast. I like polishes a little darker than this that are pearly, but this is just kinda...meh. The frankens that I really, really love are the ones with crazy, outrageous, unexpected shimmer. But I still think this color is perfectly nice.
So...not my fav franken, but not bad by any means. I'm sure I'll use it again sometime!!

Til next time, Cat
